Description: In April of 1992, Snoop Doggy Dogg was introduced to the world with an appearance on the Deep Cover soundtrack. As an 11 year old in Owensboro, Kentucky I probably wasn't the targeted demographic. However as soon as I heard the singles from Dr. Dre's 'The Chronic' on constant rotation via MTV, I couldn't wait to hear Snoop's solo album. The prior era of rappers NWA, Run DMC, LL, etc were all great, but they were all my parent's age. Me & Snoop were close enough in age, that we coulda been brothers. Snoop was the 1st voice of my generation. As much as I dig Alice In Chains & Nirvana, those guys weren't from my generation. Snoop was. Another thing that made me really connect to his music was seeing interviews saying his music was for everyone. Back in 1993 that wasn't always the message coming from hip hop artists. Being a white kid in Kentucky that loved hip hop since the 80's, I felt as out of place as 'Grandmaster B' looked on Married With Children sometimes. As soon as I heard Snoop say his music is for everyone, and that his 1st producer was a white dude made my 11 year old mind say "If Snoop says it's cool to be white and not only like his music, but be involved in it, who gives a damn what anyone else thinks? I'm been a fan ever since. To celebrate 30 years of Snoop Dogg, I've put together this documentary that highlights the era that brought Tha Doggfather to worldwide fame. #SnoopDogg #Snoop #DeathRow #Rap #HipHop #DrDre #Tupac #2Pac #SugeKnight #90s #1990s #MTV #BET Doggystyle #LongBeach
