In short. Your documents stay on your iPhone. Scanning, straightening pages, reading tables and text, search and every PDF tool run on the device, and nothing you scan or import is uploaded. The app sends usage and crash statistics (AppMetrica), and at launch it contacts our subscription provider (Adapty) to load prices and check whether Pro is active. There are no accounts, no ads and no tracking.
To let you find scans from the iPhone's own search, Paperlift adds each document's name and recognized text to Spotlight. This index is kept on your device and managed by iOS; Paperlift does not send it anywhere. Deleting a document in Paperlift removes it from the index, and deleting the app removes all of its entries.
The camera is used only when you start a scan, for example with Lift paper or for an ID copy. From Photos receives only the photos you pick. Images are used to make the document you asked for, on the device, and are not uploaded. For ID copies, card images stay on the device and the app does not read or index what is printed on them.
When you protect a PDF with a password, the password is applied to that file's own encryption. The app does not store or transmit it, and we cannot recover it for you.
The app uses AppMetrica, a service of Yandex, to learn which features people use and to fix crashes.

Some features are available with an optional subscription purchased through the App Store. Payment is handled by Apple: we do not see your card details or your Apple ID. Each time the app starts, it contacts Adapty Tech Inc. to load the plans and prices for your country and to check whether Pro is active. For this Adapty receives an installation identifier created for this app, the device model, the iOS and app versions, and, if you buy or restore a subscription, the purchase information from the App Store (the transaction). This is not linked to your name or Apple ID, it is not used for tracking, and Adapty does not receive any documents or their contents.

Deleting a document in the app removes it, its recognized text and its search entry from the device. Deleting the app removes everything it stored. Because we hold no copy of your documents, there is nothing for you to request from us.
AppMetrica (Yandex) and Adapty process the data described above only to provide their services to us, under their own privacy terms linked above, which protect it at least as well as this policy. We use usage and crash statistics only to improve the app and do not keep them longer than that purpose needs; AppMetrica and Adapty keep data for the periods set out in their own terms. Purchase records are kept as long as needed to confirm your subscription and as required by law. Deleting the app stops all collection. To ask us to delete statistics or purchase data linked to your installation, write to the address below and we will request deletion from these services.
The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
When this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with a new date.
